A study done by Wealthx in partnership with Business Insider reveals the top 50 richest people in the world.
While Microsoft founder and renowned philanthropist Bill Gates retains his spot as the richest person in the world with a net worth of US$87.4 billion, there are some new names on the list. Spanish businessman Amancio Ortega Gaona best known for the apparel brand Zara and investor emeritus Warren Buffett take the second and third place with wealth of $66.8 billion and $60.7 billion respectively.
India, who forms 1/3rd of the world’s population, and is home some of the poorest in the world, also finds not one, but three spots on the list. Reliance group chairman Mukesh Ambani is the richest Indian and 27th richest man in the world with a net worth of $24.8 billion. Wipro founder Azim Premji and Dilip Shanghvi, founder of Sun pharma, were ranked at the 43rd and 44th place with assets worth $16.5 billion and $16.4 billion respectively. This also makes them the top 3 richest Indians.
Amazon founder and CEO, Jezz Bezos with a net worth of $56.6bn is the 4th richest person, while Mark Zuckerberg with a net worth of$42.8bn ranks 8th and also the youngest billionaire on the list.
