Gone are the days when online business catered only to the urban, cosmopolitan crowd. Organizing the unorganized industrial sector is a new area that tech startups are now getting into. Targeting such a market, which has no precedents of using technology, and which has practices that have been going on for generations is not easy, but if it succeeds, the payoffs can be immense. One such startup is TruckSuvidha.
TruckSuvidha is a web portal catering exclusively to the trucking and transportation industry. It aims to connect transporters, truck drivers, customers and allied entities. It aims to be become the Uber for transportation, with a focus on trucks and freight. Brokers, transporters, logistic and delivery heads can use their service online by registering themselves on the website.
Based in Haryana, this one year start-up was co-founded by Amit Punaini, an entrepreneur who is passionate about new ventures and Ishu Bansal, a software engineer with a vision to own a start-up that makes difference. The resources of Punaini and the technical knowledge of Bansal was the key behind this venture, as the duo started the journey of TruckSuvidha to bring transportation industry under digital light.
“With TruckSuvidha, the user gets all freight transport solutions under one roof. With few clicks user can register as a customer, transporter or packer or mover. Trucksuvidha.com is offering Free Load Posting to all the big and small transport players as well as to other sectors that are directly or indirectly linked with transport sector and avail the feature of Free Listing of their firm on our website. The customer can choose the city, date, material, weight and truck type as per their choice and book a vehicle for transportation without having to talk to transporters directly. The transporters can list their entire catalogue of vehicles available. Customer’s requests will directly reach the transporter”, says Bansal. Core services of Trucksuvidha includes free listing, online directory, load post, load board, truck post, truck board, distance calculator, web profile service, etc.
Being a one-of-its-kind start-up, TruckSuvidha works on a concept that is combined with hordes of field-work and incessant hard work of the people involved. But the road they are walking on is less traveled in the digital world. Hence they had to face several challenges. They worked towards uplifting the industry, changing mind-set of the users and minimizing the communication gap among truck drivers and the entire transport industry. It was difficult and it’s a long road ahead, but within one year of its establishment, Trucksuvidha has made heaps of progress. “Earlier the transporters are not even ready to get registered but now they are doing self-registration and calling us for the services”, says Bansal. The Trucksuvidha team is educating the transporters about using the internet and explaining to them how companies now post their load on the portal to search for trucks. They are making the transporters understand how technology can simplify their job.
The founders see the future of Trucksuvidha expanding to offering services like transportation within cities, shifting houses and if possible, move across borders. “It’s a simple yet bold plan and we have all the motivation to make it a reality”, says Bansal.
