As per the latest SimilarWeb data, Google.com leads the pack with a substantial 29.21% share of global web traffic, followed by YouTube.com at 20.40%. Facebook.com holds the third position with 5.08%, while WhatsApp.com secures fourth place at 3.15%. Instagram.com rounds out the top five with 2.36%. ChatGPT.com closely follows at 2.33%, which is impressive for a site that was created just three years ago. X.com takes seventh place with 1.92%, while Yahoo.com ranks eighth at 1.88%. Reddit.com claims the ninth spot with 1.62%, and Netflix.com completes the top ten list with a 1.60% share of web traffic.
But this rapid progress up the charts doesn’t seem to be enough for OpenAI CEO Sam Altman. “Man, still a long way to go to run down google,” he posted on X while sharing the rankings. And with ChatGPT having integrated web search within its platform, and made it accessible to users without a login, it does seem that ChatGPT is indeed gunning for Google’s crown at the top of the list.
