OpenAI President Greg Brockman Has Donated $25 Million To US President Donald Trump’s MAGA Super PAC

Silicon Valley might have been backing Democrats for several decades, but more and more executives are now backing Republicans as well.

OpenAI President Greg Brockman has donated $25 million to MAGA Inc, US President Donald Trump’s Super PAC. A Super PAC (Political Action Committee) is a U.S. political committee that can raise and spend unlimited amounts of money from corporations, unions, individuals, and other groups to support or oppose political candidates, but cannot donate directly to campaigns or coordinate with them. Unlike traditional PACs which have donation limits, Super PACs must also disclose their donors.

As per the filings on the Federal Election Commission website, OpenAI President Greg Brockman was one of the biggest backers of the MAGA Super PAC in the last six months. He is listed as having donated $12.5 million to the PAC, while his wife Anna Brockman is listed as having donated an identical $12.5 million, bringing the donation to $25 million. Greg Brockman is listed as “OpenAI/ President and Co-founder”, while his wife is listed as “retired”.

“This year, my wife Anna and I started getting involved politically, including through political contributions, reflecting support for policies that advance American innovation and constructive dialogue between government and the technology sector,” Brockman wrote on X. “These views are grounded in a belief that the United States must work closely with builders, researchers, and entrepreneurs to ensure AI is developed responsibly at home and that we remain globally competitive,” he added.

“We’ve been encouraged by the growing seriousness with which policymakers in Washington are approaching US leadership in AI, which we’ve long believed depends on optimism, curiosity to explore, and serious infrastructure development. As I expressed at a recent White House technology leaders’ dinner, it’s been great to see the president’s and his administration’s willingness to engage directly with the AI community and approach emerging technology with a growth-focused mindset and goal of helping to ensure continued US leadership in AI and supporting American economic competitiveness,” he added.

Several Silicon Valley executives and venture capitalists have publicly endorsed or financially backed Donald Trump, particularly during his 2024 reelection campaign and subsequent inauguration. Key figures include Elon Musk, Marc Andreessen and Ben Horowitz and David Sacks. Additionally, OpenAI CEO Sam Altman, Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos and Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg had all donated $1 million each to President Trump’s inaugural fund.
