Aamir Khan is no longer the brand ambassador of Snapdeal. The company had decided to not renew the actor’s contract after it ended on 31st January. According to reports, Snapdeal will not be looking for a replacement for Khan as it tightens its purse strings to cut down on its losses.
Aamir had a tumultuous time as the face of Snapdeal over the past year. After being featured prominently in Snapdeal’s Dil se Deal campaign, the actor had courted controversy when his remarks about feeling unsafe in India had not gone down well with India’s netizens. A series of online protests had followed, and Snapdeal had faced the brunt, with thousands of people giving its app a one star rating in protest.
Snapdeal had distanced itself from Aamir’s remarks, saying that they’d been made in a personal capacity.
Aamir Khan, one of India’s most bankable celebs, has had a tough time as brand ambassador of late. last month, Khan ceased to be the ambassador for the government’s ‘Incredible India’ tourism campaign, and was replaced by Amitabh Bachchan and Priyanka Chopra.
