Business can be brutal. Companies battle with each other over prices and quality, and aren’t above making the occasional dig to get a leg up over the competition. This is especially pronounced in the airplane manufacturing business. The industry is an almost perfect duopoly – almost all airplanes manufactured are by Airbus or Boeing. And their rivalry is fierce – any plane sold by either company means one fewer sale for its competitor.
But when Boeing was celebrating its 100th anniversary this year, Airbus had an unusual message for its rival.
Just go on to show that no matter how hard you compete in business, there’s always room for mutual respect.
