Larsen and Toubro (L&T) has not sent offer letters to students it selected through campus placements in 2014, a reddit user has alleged. The anonymous poster, who hinted that the incident happened at Manipal University, claimed that students who’d been offered the jobs had to resort to doing odd jobs at 5-10k per month while they waited to join the company.
The poster said that L&T came to their college for placements in 2014, and held a difficult placement procedure that lasted 2 days. It consisted of two tests, a GD, and two interviews. Several students were reportedly selected, but they were never sent the date of joining. Their college rules dictated that they couldn’t sit for any other jobs once they’d accepted the L&T offer.
The selected students followed up with the company repeatedly, and were told by the HR department that they’d soon receive their joining letters. The poster complained that it had been a year since the job offers were made, and L&T is yet to get back with the dates of joining. Many students are finding it hard to pay off loans as they’re without a job.
In its email to the college, L&T claimed that delay in joining was due to fluctuations in business demand forecasts.
