Dream11, My11Circle, MPL Announce They’re Shutting Down Real-Money Fantasy Leagues In India

Online platforms have reacted swiftly to the new laws that prohibit real-money games in India.

Dream11, My11Circle and MPL have announced that they’re shutting down their real-money operations in India. Dream11 posted a message on its website, saying that it had discontinued cash games and contests on the platform. The message showed a bat laid down next to a ball. “Thank you for your interest in Dream11,” the message said. “As per the Promotion and Regulation of Online Gaming Bill 2025, cash games and contests have been discontinued on Dream11,” it said.

Dream11 posted a detailed message on X. “This morning, we stopped all paid contests on Dream11and pivoted entirely to a free-to-play online social game,” the company said.

“When we started this journey 18 years ago as a Sports Tech company, we were not even 1% of the size of the USA Fantasy Sports industry. Dream11’s Fantasy Sports product was our way to “Make Sports Better” for all of India. With this passion, belief, and the spirit of Made in India, for India, by Indians, we became the largest fantasy sports platform in the world,” Dream11 said.

“We have always been and will always be a law abiding company, and have conducted our business in compliance with the laws. While we believe that progressive regulations would have been the right way forward, we will respect the law and will fully comply with “The Promotion & Regulation of Online Gaming Law, 2025″,” it added.

“We are fortunate to have a portfolio of amazing Sports Tech businesses including FanCode, DreamSetGo and Dream Game Studios, along with our Dream Sports Foundation. These will continue to power our vision to “Make Sports Better” and support our Hon’ble Prime Minister’s ambition of making India a global sporting superpower. Thank you for all your love and trust. See you in our second innings. 111 The Dream Team,” Dream11’s message said.

My11Circle too announced it was suspending real money games on the platform. “In line with the new regulations, Games24x7 is suspending real money games on My11Circle. Our commitment to the law remains strong, and we’ll continue to prioritize our players with smooth withdrawals and future updates,” it said on X.

“Our players are at the heart of everything we do. All players will be able to seamlessly withdraw any balance from their wallets and we will make sure the process is smooth and hassle-free. From this point on, no new cash deposits will be accepted, and games involving real money will not be available on our platform. We will continue to serve and entertain the online gaming community in this country, while operating fully within the framework of the law. We will keep our players updated on the new and exciting initiatives we are working on,” it added.

MPL had a scrolling message on its website saying that it was discontinuing cash games. “In compliance with the law, no cash games are available on MPL,” the message read.

This suggests that these companies have accepted the bill, and unlike what some had suggested, will not approach the Supreme Court to have it repealed. The speed with which this entire process has gone down is unprecedented. Till Monday, there was no inkling that such a bill was even being considered. On Tuesday, it had been reported that the bill had been passed by the cabinet. On Wednesday, the bill was passed by the Lok Sabha, and on Thursday it was passed by the Rajya Sabha. On Friday, President Droupadi Murmu gave her assent to the bill, turning it into law. And by Friday evening, all these companies — together worth over $10 billion — had shut down their most lucrative income stream overnight. India’s governments can often be slow and bureaucratic, but the speed with which this government has taken down the entire real money gaming industry is something that’ll go down in history as one of the most decisive bits of legislation ever.
