Asus Zenfone 5Z: What to Expect

India will welcome Asus’ latest smartphone, the Asus Zenfone 5Z on July 4th, 2018. The handset was first introduced at MWC 2018 in Barcelona. We still don’t know how much the device will be priced, but it is expected to range between Rs 35,000 and Rs 40,000.  Here are some reasons for expecting the flagship.

Design and Display

Zenfone 5Z offers a sleek design with its entire body made of glass. The handset measures around 153 x 75.65 x 7.7 mm and weighs around 165 g. As for the display, Asus equips this device with Full HD+ display IPS LCD screen with 2246 x 1080 pixels and 90% screen to body ratio. The screen will be protected by the famous 2.5D curved Corning gorilla Glass. This device will also come with a fingerprint reader at the back of the device.

Storage and hardware

Asus Zenfone 5Z comes with 3 storage options: 8GB RAM – 256GB storage, 6GB RAM – 128GB storage, and 4GB RAM – 64GB storage. The good news is, we will be able to expand the storage using microSD card up to 2TB. As for the processing core, Asus equips the handset with Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 octa-core chip with 1.8GHz and Adreno 630 GPU. With both these chips, the Zenfone 5Z is powerful enough to run any application, including online betting apps or any other app.

Camera

Today, a smartphone is always about camera experience and Asus digs into everything to get us the best smartphone experience. Their promotion tag starts with “AI Cameras that Think for You”. We still don’t know how different it will be, but as the rumors spread, the Zenfone 5Z will be equipped with 16MP at the main camera with f/1.7 aperture and 13MP as the secondary camera with f/1.8 aperture. Also, the 5Z will also feature LED flash, OIS, and PDAF technology.

We expect the camera to support 4K video recording with at least 60 frames per seconds. At the front side, we may have 8MP front side camera with f/2.0 aperture.

Software and battery

Unlike some Asus handsets, the Zenfone 5Z runs on ZenUI 5 on top of Google’s Android Oreo. The native launcher app from Asus includes the company’s unique launcher as well as custom themes and a security suite, ZenUI Safeguard.

In addition, the 5Z will also feature some proprietary apps, including Mobile Manager, Game Genie, Selfie Master, and ZenMotion. As for the power unit, the device is backed with a 3300mAh battery with scheduled charging feature to protect your battery. It isn’t fixed yet, but some rumours said that it will only need a single charge to keep your device hold for one entire day.
