Just when you thought it was accepted that grocery delivery wasn’t really working as a business model in India, another company has decided to throw its hat in the ring – but with a twist.

The Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation would soon be rolling out tenders seeking leases at the 10+ metro stations in the city. The idea reportedly had been in the works for a while, but was put on the backburner because of a modest number of footfalls at the stations that served a limited route.

Flipkart has signed on a network of 700 corner stores across 28 cities as part of its alternative delivery program. As a part of this initiative, the company plans on powering last-mile delivery using personnel at the corner stores in a radius of 500 to 800 metres.

In an unexpected announcement, tech giant Apple has revealed that it has invested $1 billion in Didi Chuxing (formerly known as Didi Kuaidi), China’s biggest ride-sharing service.
