There are six Indian startups among the two-dozen promising startups selected by Google for its second Launchpad Accelerator programme. The programme would be held at the Google Headquarters in Silicon Valley, California from June 13, 2016.
The selected startups are 1) Taskbob, 2) Programming Hub, 3) ShareChat, 4) PlaySimple Games, 5) RedCarpet and 6) Magic Pin.
The programme focuses on providing mentoring to startups in developing countries, giving them the skills and seed funding necessary to finish building out their apps. It brings together mentors and experts from within Google and external world to help startups succeed. It includes $50,000 in equity-free funding, a two-week all-expenses paid bootcamp at Google Headquarters, six months of ongoing mentorship and access to Google’s full suite of Launchpad initiatives and connections and product credits including Google Cloud and other products.
Taskbob is engaged in providing home services like cleaning, appliance repair and maids on demand. Programming Hub provides an app to help learn various programming languages. ShareChat provides a social networking chat platform in Indian languages. PlaySimple Games provides for building simple and fun social games. RedCarpet provides instant credit for online purchases enabling the purchaser to buy any product from any site and pay back in easy instalments. MagicPin provides a platform for offline merchants in a locality and helps users to discover local merchants and transact on the platform.
Apart from Indian startups, the other startups selected are from Brazil, Indonesia and Mexico.
