Uber’s taking rapid steps towards setting up its Hyderabad office. After announcing plans of setting up its largest non-US office in the city in July, the company announced that it has leased 150,000 square feet for its Hyderabad office.
Uber’s Hyderabad office will be located in Western Pearl commercial office building in Hitec city. The company has already occupied 70,000 feet of office space and will be moving into the rest of the area in a phased manner. Western Pearl is a 700,000 sq ft building, with a leasable area of 500,000 sq ft. Uber’s new office will be in close proximity to Google and Facebook’s Hyderabad offices.
The new office will be used as a back office and technology centre and has a capacity to seat 1800 employees. “Hyderabad was always the preferred choice”, said Sidharth Shanker, general manager of Uber Hyderabad operations. “The style of life, the progressive government and deep talent pool were the key factors that influenced the decision.”
