There are a slew of coupon based sites in India today, all offering incredible discounts to their delighted customers. But one company, in the short span of 15 months, has established itself as a premier player in the discount coupons space. It is the Hyderabad-based startup, GrabOn.
GrabOn was started in late 2013 by Ashok Reddy. He is a Computer Science graduate from Anna University and has more than fifteen years of experience with brands like eBay/PayPal, Microsoft and Infosys.
In order to differentiate itself in the already crowded online coupons space, GrabOn claims to have designed a website that provides the user with a better shopping experience. “We took time to understand the problems faced by the users while using online coupons”, says Reddy. “We have a fresh looking website with streamlined navigation which literally pampers the users to get the best coupons and offers.”
The portal aggregates online coupons and deals across electronics, travel, fashion and food & dining from online retailers such as Snapdeal, Flipkart, Amazon, Foodpanda, Jabong, redBus, and updates them on their website. In addition to this, GrabOn features exclusive coupons on their site. This portal claims to be India’s fastest growing coupons and deals website also has a monthly expense savings calculator, which has interactive charts and a talking mascot that gives saving suggestions to users.
These innovations seem to have worked. GrabOn is today one of India’s fastest growing coupon websites. It is among the top 300 most visited websites in India according to Alexa, and gets 3.5M visitors a month. The company plans to raise this number to 10M by the end of the year. GrabOn has 35 full time employees and aims to grow this number to 75 by December 2015.
The company which received $250K for its parent company, is looking for raising Series A for further expansion into the offline coupon and deals space.
