Swiggy Launches New App Snacc To Deliver Food In 15 Minutes

Ultra-fast food deliveries are the next big thing, and everyone seems to want a piece of the pie.

Swiggy has launched a stand-alone app named Snacc that delivers food in 15 minutes. “Dope dishes delivered in a flash,” Snacc claims in its branding. The choice of a new app is interesting for Swiggy, because the company had thus far integrated its different verticals like Instamart and Genie into its original food delivery app.

Snacc says it has “food for every mood” including breakfast options, snacks and meals. It says it’ll help users quickly order food and not spend time on scrolling through options. “No more doom scrolling. All the food you need in one place — no searching, just quick add and order,” it says. Swiggy says Snacc will deliver items in 15 minutes.

Swiggy has chosen to go with a whole different app for its 15-minute deliveries, which indicates that it believes that fast deliveries are a separate use-case that’s distinct from regular food ordering. Snacc’s branding is also bright and youthful, and the copy on its website indicates that it’s meant for a younger audience. The app has just been uploaded on both the Google and Apple stores, and it currently has a 5-star rating and a handful of reviews.

Swiggy is the third major player — apart from a couple of startups — to launch a quick food delivery app. Late last year, Zomato-owned Blinkit had launched a stand-along app named Bistro, which delivered food in minutes. Zepto too had announced Zepto Cafe, which would make 10-15 minute deliveries. Swiggy already had a 10-minute food delivery service named Bolt, which it had scaled to 400+ cities and towns, and delivered 10 lakh food items through 40,000 restaurants. It appears that Swiggy has used the learnings from Bolt and turned it into a separate app.

All these companies launching quick food delivery apps in unison suggests that usage behaviour indicates that there is demand for such apps. Both Bistro and Snacc seem to have made branding choices that indicate that they’re geared towards younger users, and it appears that India’s Gen Z users might want their food delivered faster than their predecessors. Thus far, though, these apps haven’t really caught on — Bistro and Zepto Cafe haven’t really made a big dent in the food delivery space, but with Swiggy too throwing its hat into the ring with Snacc, it appears that Indian consumers will have no shortage of choices if they want food and snacks delivered to them in 10 minutes.
