Absconding TCS Employee Nida Khan Arrested In Maharashtra

Nida Khan, the employee thought to be at the heart of the conversion racket operating at TCS Nashik, has finally been arrested.

Khan was apprehended on Thursday in a joint operation by the Nashik SIT, the Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar Police Commissionerate, and the Crime Branch. She had been staying for the past four days at a flat in Kaiser Colony in the Naregaon area of Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, along with her parents, brother, and aunt. Police had kept the flat under surveillance for two days before moving in.

The arrest closes one of the most-watched fugitive threads in the TCS Nashik conversion case — a scandal that has shaken corporate India since it broke last month.

The Manhunt

Khan had been absconding since the first arrests were made, with multiple police teams deployed across Maharashtra to trace her. In a last-ditch bid to avoid custody, she had approached a Nashik court for anticipatory bail, citing a two-month pregnancy. The court declined to grant interim relief.

Following her detention, she was produced before a Judicial Magistrate First Class at the judge’s residence, transit remand was secured, and she was taken to Nashik for further questioning.

In an official statement, the SIT confirmed: “Accused Nida Khan, wanted in Devlali Camp Police Station Crime Register No. 156/26, has been taken into custody from Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar.”

Who Is Nida Khan?

Khan joined TCS in December 2021 as a process associate at its Nashik unit. TCS has since clarified publicly that she held no HR or leadership role — a pointed rebuttal to early coverage that had labelled her an “HR manager.” She was, however, the only woman in the accused group and allegedly played a central coordinating role.

Police allege that Khan was the key facilitator inside the office — befriending victims over lunch, coaching them on how to behave with the male accused, and pressuring them to change their style of dress and adopt religious practices. Her brother, Danish Sheikh, is among the six men arrested earlier and stands accused of establishing a physical relationship with a complainant under a false promise of marriage while already being married.

Three months before the case became public, Khan had been quietly transferred from the Nashik unit to TCS offices in Malad and Hiranandani in Mumbai.

A Case That Keeps Getting Darker

What began as a workplace sexual harassment complaint has widened considerably. Seven more women came forward after the initial arrests, describing years of mental and sexual harassment stretching from February 2022 to March 2026, with HR complaints allegedly ignored.

A human trafficking angle has since emerged — accused Danish Sheikh allegedly collected original documents, including passports, from at least 13 women under the pretext of arranging overseas postings, and opened bank accounts in their names linked to his own mobile number. The accused are booked under MCOCA (Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act), signalling that police view the operation as an organised criminal conspiracy.

The Anti-Terror Squad, NIA, and Intelligence Bureau are now investigating whether the racket had external funding or connections beyond Nashik. TCS had briefly suspended operations at its Nashik unit and placed all accused employees under suspension.

The seven accused who have now been arrested — six men and Khan — were identified after seven women police officers worked undercover inside TCS Nashik for 42 days, quietly gathering evidence before making their move.

With Khan now in custody, all named accused are behind bars. But with central agencies still probing the full scope of the conspiracy, this case is far from over.
