If you’re a Java developer working in Bangalore, chances are you’re among the best-paid professionals in the country.
These were the findings of the Randstad Salary Trends Study 2017, which analyzed 1,00,000 jobs across 15 functions and 20 industries in India. Bangalore was the city which paid its professionals the best, with an average CTC of Rs. 14.6 lakh. It was followed closely by Mumbai at 14.2 lakh, and Hyderabad at 13.6 lakh per annum. Kolkata was last among the major cities, with an average CTC of just Rs. 11.4 lakh per annum.
But what was more interesting was how salaries varied with experience. For young employees, with 0-6 years of experience, Bangalore provided the highest salaries, perhaps thanks to the relatively high starting salaries earned by IT professionals. Salaries in Bangalore were an average of Rs. 5.5 lakh per annum. Delhi-NCR and Chennai followed with Rs. 5.4 lakh and Rs. 5.5 lakh respectively.

In comparison, their Android engineering counterparts earned just Rs. 10 lakh on average, as did Hadoop and Big Data professionals. In a sign of the times, Digital Marketers were the second-best paid professionals in India with an average salary of Rs. 17 lakh.
