Finance internships are known to be famously brutal, and a leaked email from Wall Street has only served to confirm this. Justin Kwan, a second year Analyst at Barclays, sent out an email to the bright-eyed young college graduates about to join the company for its internship program. Ominously titled “Welcome to the jungle”, the email lists the 10 commandments that an intern needs to follow if they wish to succeed in the cutthroat world of investment banking.
Offices today are getting cooler. Google has a floor-long slide in its Zurich office, Facebook’s office has an in-house hair salon, and LivePerson’s office has hammocks to kick back and relax in. But these embellishments pale in comparison with what NetDragon Websoft, a Chinese gaming company has done to its office. It’s made the entire building in the shape of the USS Enterprise.
Larsen and Toubro (L&T) has not sent offer letters to students it selected through campus placements in 2014, a reddit user has alleged. The anonymous poster, who hinted that the incident happened at Manipal University, claimed that students who’d been offered the jobs were doing odd jobs at 5-10k per month while they waited to join the company.
It’s boom-time for startups across the world. The unicorn, or a startup with a valuation greater than $1 billion (so named because it used to be as rare as the mythical creature), has now become commonplace. As of 2015, 107 companies across the world feature in this elite list.
The top startups in India in 2015 are, keeping with the times, mostly internet based companies. Mu Sigma, a Bangalore-based analytics firm, makes an interesting entry into the list.
