All manner of multinational companies already have their presence in India, but India is now featuring ever more prominently in their plans.
US-based financial services giant American Express has opened its largest campus globally in India. The campus is located in sector 74A in Gurugram in Haryana, and spans over 1 million square feet.
“Our new India campus is the largest office we’ve built from the ground up globally, and the facility is a fitting reflection of the American Express brand and the kind of workplace where our colleagues can thrive,” said American Express Senior Vice President, Global Real Estate Gagandeep Singh.
“American Express in India continues to develop in-country capabilities by leveraging our global expertise and local talent, fostering new opportunities and innovation for customers worldwide,” said American Express CEO and Country Manager for India Sanjay Khanna. “The new office building provides a modern, energy-efficient workspace, enabling our teams to continue driving innovation and delivering exceptional value to our customers worldwide,” he added.
The new American Express campus will focus on health and wellness with outdoor green spaces and community areas, including lounges and pantries, amongst other facilities. The facility has received Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Gold certification for Building Design and Construction (BD+C) Core and Shell Development. Employees will begin moving into the new facility in phases starting May 2024.
American Express is a leading global financial services company that specializes in payment cards, travel-related services, and financial advisory services. Founded in 1850, it has grown to become one of the most recognized brands in the world. The company operates in over 130 countries and serves millions of customers, including individual consumers, small businesses, and large corporations. American Express is known for its premium credit cards, such as the Platinum Card and the Centurion Card, as well as its travel services, including its network of airport lounges and its travel booking platform.
American Express isn’t the only multinational that is setting up office in India. Google is already building its largest campus outside the US in Hyderabad, and Samsung’s largest global mobile phone manufacturing facility is in Noida. Apart from these, companies ranging from Apple, Amazon, Uber and hundreds of others have a significant presence in India. While India might be still be catching up in being part of the global manufacturing supply chains, it is already significant part of the human resource supply chains for some of the world’s biggest companies.
