Sundar Pichai is now one of the most visible CEOs around, but not too long ago, he was just another tech executive making his way up the ranks.
A 13-year-old video featuring Google CEO Sundar Pichai has recently resurfaced on the internet. The video shows Pichai being interviewed as the Senior Vice President of Chrome at Google. Pichai is looking considerably younger than he does today, sans the beard and the grey in his hair. But even then, he seemed to have plenty of poise and answers questions with the elan of a seasoned executive.
It’s always interesting to see current CEOs before they took on the top role in their mid-management avatars. There’s the much publicized video of Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella from 1993, in which he’s showing off features on Microsoft Excel.
As it turned out, Pichai was appointed CEO of Google two years after the interview. He’s since led Google to greater heights, and is currently helping the company navigate its way through the AI revolution. Chromebooks never made the impact that Pichai was suggesting in the video, but he’s been more successful as CEO — Google’s stock is up more than 12x since he took over the reins of the company.
