Hacker group Legion has struck again. After hacking accounts of Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi and Vijay Mallya, it’s hacked the account of NDTV journalist Barkha Dutt.
Like with the other hacks, the group has said it’ll release an email dump soon.
The group has also taunted authorities saying that they can’t be caught, claiming that they have widespread public support and a global botnet network.
The group also seems eager to engage with the public, asking people to contact it on an email address.
The hacks are now forming a clear pattern. It’s people who the group thinks have engaged in corrupt activities. Rahul Gandhi is the scion of the Gandhi family, which the group had claimed had “looted India for 60 years.” Vijay Mallya is currently in hiding in the UK after defaulting on bank loans worth crores. Barkha Dutt too is thought to be a power broker, and her organization NDTV has previously been accused of tax evasion. In the Nira Radia tapes, Barkha Dutt’s phone conversations had shown her to have a cosy relationship with government ministers and large corporates, and it was believed that it influenced her reporting.
