IIM Lucknow Graduate Shailesh Jejurikar Becomes New CEO Of Procter & Gamble

Yet another global giant has an Indian CEO at the helm.

IIM Lucknow graduate Shailesh Jejurikar has been appointed the CEO of FMCG major Procter and Gamble. Jejurikar, who is currently the Chief Operating Officer of the company, will replace Jon Moeller, who’d been CEO for the last four years. Moeller will become P&G’s Executive Chairman.

“I feel great about the team that will continue leading us,” Moeller said about Jejurikar’s appointment. He added that the appointment of Jejurikar is “strengthening what we’ve been doing,” and that includes executing the restructuring program the company announced last month. Jejurikar will officially take over as P&G’s President and CEO in January 2026. P&G is the company behind popular consumer brands including Gillette, Whisper, Oral B, Ariel, Tide, Head and Shoulders, Pampers, Pantene, Vicks and Old Spice, among others.

Shailesh Jejurikar has an MBA from IIM Lucknow. He joined Procter and Gamble as his first job all the way back in 1989. Back then, he was an assistant brand manager for Personal Health Care in India. During his career, he worked on several P&G businesses, including Health & Beauty Care, Home Care, Fabric Care and P&G Professional. He also worked in a variety of global markets, including North America, Europe, Asia and Africa.

As he rose through the ranks, Jejurikar was appointed CEO of P&G’s Fabric & Home Care business in 2019. P&G’s Fabric & Home Care business is the largest vertical within the company, and with brands like  Tide and Ariel, accounts for one-third of its revenue. In 2021, Jejurikar was appointed the Chief Operating Officer of the entire group. In 2026, he’ll take over as the company’s President and CEO.

Shailesh Jejurikar isn’t alone in starting off from India and ending up leading a large multinational corporation. This trend is well-known in tech — the CEOs of Google, Microsoft, Adobe, IBM and many others are all Indians who’d completed their undergraduate studies in India. But there’s a growing number of non-tech multinational giants which are also led by Indians — the CEOs of Bata, Diageo, Deloitte, Reckitt, GAP, Amway, Novartis, WeWork and Chanel are all of Indian-origin. And with P&G now having an Indian CEO as well, Indians continue their march to the very top of the biggest companies in the world.
