Sachin Bansal and Binny Bansal are the youngest people on India’s billionaire list, and Binny, at 33, pips Sachin by a few months to be India’s youngest billionaire.
When they say you gotta ‘sell’ yourself well to land a good job, some people take it rather literally. Throwing himself into the job ‘market’, Akash Neeraj Mittal, an IIT-Kolkata alumnus, created a Flipkart-like resume, to well, raise his stakes to land an assistant product manager job at the hallowed Ecommerce company.
Flipkart Shuts Down Its Groceries Arm Nearby. Last year there was a spurt of players in the online grocery delivery business with new players like Peppertap and Grofers and biggies like Flipkart with Nearby, Ola with Ola store and Amazon with Amazon groceries entering the fray. Though recent events point out to the potential lack of feasibility of a grocery delivery business. Recently, Peppertap had scaled down operations by shutting down in 6 major cities and Grofers had shut down in 9 cities.
There’s going to be one fewer Bansal at Flipkart’s helm. Mukesh Bansal, who heading the commerce and advertising business at Flipkart, has resigned from the company. The move comes weeks after Flipkart’s restructuring in which longtime CEO Sachin Bansal had stepped aside and co-founder Binny Bansal had stepped in his place.
Indian ecommerce unicorn startup Snapdeal turned 6 today. The company celebrated its coming a long way from a deals and coupons site to a fully fledged ecommerce giant with a splash on social media. Wishes poured in. However, the most unlikely wish came from none other rival Flipkart.
Flipkart appears to have put the final nail in the coffin of its app-only push that it began in May last year. Its latest sale, centered around Republic Day, will be available on both desktop and app. There’s also a company-wide move to make all products and services available on desktops, company insiders tell OfficeChai.
Flipkart’s new CEO appointment and its subsequent management rejig has had an unexpected fallout – Chief Product Officer and former Google executive Punit Soni shall be soon leaving the company. When contacted, Soni said that he couldn’t talk about the matter at the moment, but said that “India has unique opportunities and unique challenges.”
India’s largest e-commerce giant, Flipkart, is in for some organizational change. Co-founder Sachin Bansal, who has been the CEO since the inception of the company in 2007, will step aside. His cofounder, Binny Bansal will take his place. Sachin Bansal will in turn become the Executive Chairman.
Flipkart has another addition to the ever-expanding list of items available on its site. Soon, buyers will be able to buy motorcycles and cars from the online retailer.
